Traditional Chinese Medicine has developed over a period of at least 3,000 years.
Acupuncture performs certain functions in traditional Chinese Medicine. It regulates the flow of Qi through the channels and Organs, removes blockages, strengthens the body’s protective Qi and balance excesses.

Acupuncture is a major modality in Chinese Medicine. Other modalities include: Herbology, Cupping, Guasha, Qi Gong, Massage, Diet and Nutrition.

Acupuncture is designed to heal many other ailments, not only pain. One can use it to allow vital energy to flow between the vital blueprints of any two zang-fu organs to correct energy imbalances to produce healing.

  • Release of physical and emotional stress.
  • Activation and control of immune and anti-inflammatory mechanisms.
  • Acceleration of tissue healing.
  • Pain relief.

Needling reduces bodily stress by stimulating the secretion of endorphins, relaxing the cardiovascular and muscular systems, and restoring the physiologic and autonomic balance (homeostasis), which includes normalizing visceral funcions that are impaired during stressful assault via neurohormonal pathways.

Acupuncture activates the built-in survival mechanism of our body: the self-healing potential. Thus acupuncture is effective for those symptoms than can be completely or partially healed by the body.

We inherit the self-healing potential for biological survival. This inherited self-healing potential is modified by genetic makeup, medical history, lifestyle, and age. Therefore each of us has a different self-healing capacity. The self-healing potential, however, is dynamically changing. It will deteriorate if a person abuses his/her health. The efficacy of acupuncture therapy depends on:

(1) the status of self-healing potential of the body (e.g., the healthier a person is, the better his or her self-healing potential)

(2) the potential healing ability of the symptoms (e.g., acute low back pain heals faster than chronic low back pain). This is why different patients respond differently to the same acupuncture treatment.

Additionally, an individual can bolster their over-all health and immune system by making sure that they get the minimum of 90 Essential Nutrients which the body REQUIRES in order to repair and sustain itself – this is a critical element which can allow us to live active, healthy lives well beyond 100 years. Ask us about receiving your own Medical Nutrition Evaluation.

Herbology

HERBOLOGY:
‘The history of Chinese medicine began in the Eastern Han dynasty, although of course the Chinese people used medicinal substances for millennia before this time. The earlier texts were found in archaeological sites and were probably combined or written by the third century. At that time, many people believed in their ability to observe and understand the natural world, and that health and disease were subject to the principles of a natural order, even though, by our own standards, they were quite superstitious. The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic is the theoretical statement of this cosmology in medicine. The universe is composed of various forces: the complementary opposites of yin and yang and the five phases. The human microcosm represents these forces in miniature. There are rules to the treatment of disease and the promotion of health.’ (Chinese Herbal Medicine – Materia Medica – 3rd Edition, Dan Bensky, Steven Clavey, and Erich Stoger)

Medical Nutrients

Medical Nutrients are not to be confused with “Dietary Supplements” nor any of the mass marketed products under any such label or type. These Nutrients, specifically prescribed by The Private Wellness Center and other practitioners… are selected due to their unprecedented historical and proven uniqueness in providing what is medically known as “Essential Nutrients”.

The word “Essential” means that the body cannot endure nor repair itself without these nutrients AND the body cannot create or manufacture these nutrients on it’s own. Therefore – these nutrients must come into the body from outside sources.

In the distant past, we were able to glean most of the essential nutrients by way of consuming plants which were grown in mineral rich soils which have been depleted for some time.

The nutrients prescribed by the Private Wellness Center are unique in that they are by far, the most bio-available nutrients found on the face of the planet. That is a rather profound statement to make isn’t it?! Be assured that we mean what we say – as there are NO OTHER nutrients which have the clinical studies, historical efficacy, transparency in manufacture and third party verification as the ones researched and selected by this clinic.

Should you be given a prescription, additional information will be provided so that you receive complete transparency on exactly what you are taking, and why.

Massage

My goal in doing the massage is to be flexible as possible based on the patient’s ability to handle pressure and on their constitution. I call it intuitive massage because I use combinations of style according to what the individual needs.

It’s also worth mentioning that I am not a healer but a practitioner. YOU ARE THE HEALER, YOURSELF. I just channel the chi or energy from the Universe, God, Higher Spirit, Angels, etc… based on what I intuitively believe you require.

We named our business Private WELLNESS Center because we focus on your whole being: MIND, BODY and SPIRIT as all around wellness nourishes good health, long life and happy years as we age!

Tuina:
– a Chinese therapeutic massage that involves grasping, brushing, kneading, plucking, manipulations, stretching, etc. This is one important component of Chinese Traditional Medicine. Relaxing is one goal of this massage but importantly it is used to treat diseases through massage manipulations. It is very effective in curing and preventing diseases for infants, children and adults. With or without clothes, optional.

Shiatsu:
– a Japanese form of massage that uses thumb, fingers, elbows and knees to apply pressure on the 12 meridians. These 12 meridians/channels comprises the Lung, Large Intestine, Stomach, Spleen, Heart, Small Intestine, Urinary Bladder, Kidney, Pericardium, Triple Burner(San Jiao), Gallbladder and Liver are based from the Chinese Traditional Medicine theory. Relaxing and unblocking these 12 meridians are the goal of this type of massage. With or without clothes, optional.

Acupressure
– based from the root of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this involves meditation with the intention of unblocking the channels and meridians. Blocked channels and meridians can cause discomfort, pain, emotional/mental disturbance and affects the overall function of the body system. ”

Qi Gong

Qigong (pronounced chee-gong) is an ancient Chinese exercise and healing technique that involves meditation, controlled breathing and movement exercises.

The character “Qi” is a concept from traditional Chinese culture that roughly means vital energy, information, breath or spirit. The second character in Qigong, “gong,” means cultivation or mastery. Qigong is therefore sometimes translated as “vital energy cultivation” or “mastery of your energy.”

Mind/Body Awareness

“Mind as Slayer” & “Mind as Healer”… What does this mean? How about some examples:

“I didn’t feel prepared for the exam at all; I became very anxious. The more I prepared, the harder I studied, the more anxious I became. The day before the exam I developed heart palpitations that wouldn’t quit. I had to give up on completing the exam. Within a couple hours of dropping out, the palpitation miraculously stopped”

This type of effect the mind has on the body is sometimes labeled “Mind as Slayer” and there are many such effects. For example, many people report that when they are mentally down or depressed they are more apt to catch a cold, or have asthma flare-ups etc… It is reasonable to theorize that this happens because depression makes their immune systems vulnerable.

Not only does your mind have hazardous effects on your health, but somebody else’s mind can kill you if your belief system permits such a thing! It is documented that that’s how voodoo works (Dossey 1991).

Fortunately, there is also the mind/body effects called “Mind as Healer”, which the Private Wellness Center addresses using various mind/body healing modalities which are suggestive of mind over body; they are new to Western Medicine (Pelletier 1992) and are still distrusted by conventional Western medical practitioners.

Practitioner's Bio

BIO
I was born and raised in the Philippines. I moved here in the U.S. in 2009 and graduated Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Five Branches University a few years after. I’m currently pursuing the Doctoral Program for Acupuncture and Oriental medicine at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco specializing in Pain Management and Gynecology.
My dad died with Stroke from a long standing Hypertension at the age of 52. Ever since then I have been in quest to prevent this ‘silent killer’ and search for alternative medicine to help alleviate the symptoms of hypertension and gradually decrease the blood pressure without having to rely on Western medications.
My first few jobs were from International Manufacturing firms where I was exposed to Japanese and Chinese cultures. Before moving in the country, I was working at a Manufacturing company in Zhuhai, China. I was first introduced to Chinese herbs when my roommate got influenza and the doctors prescribed her with herb tea capsules and goji berries.
My main interests are hypertension, pain management, addiction, facial rejuvenation, gynecological issues, energy healing, lymphatic drainage therapy, care from side effects of medications and cancer support therapy.

Magic Hands! Liza is a tiny person and I am a large person. I thought she might not have the physical presence to do deep work on a large person, but I was quite mistaken! I told her as she was working on me, ‘those hands got much bigger!’ This Lady is a natural healer. I was impressed with her work mentally, touched emotionally and quite satisfied physically with the long healing session of bodywork she did for me. I give her my highest recommendation.

Heaven sent! That’s what Liza is! Liza is terrific, amazing, fantastic and more! Don’t let her tiny frame deceive you. She has a gift of knowing what your body needs and uses various techniques to heal. Liza your magic hands are just what I need! Thank you for caring so much about my well being!

Tess P. Santa Cruz, CA

Amazing! Thank you so much, Liza. This is the best massage I have ever had. For reals, I got the Hot Stone Massage Therapy Massage and she was very intuitive with the way she worked. She didn’t strictly use the stones but also incorporated her own massage technique “TwoShotPress” as needed. I definaterly reccomend this hidden gem of a spot. It’s located by Ross and Pet Smart on River Street. You can hear the cars outside the window but it surprisingly didn’t bother me! Thanks again, Liza.

Renee W. Santa Cruz, CA

Liza is WONDERFUL! I am very happy with the massage I received and I will definately be going back. It’s not a “one size fits all” massage, she is very intuitive and will adjust to your specific needs.
